Children are given homework every week, on a Friday.

They must complete and return their homework by the following Wednesday.

We expect Year 5 children to read for at least 10 minutes every night and have their Reading Record signed by a parent or guardian.

Children can change their reading books once they have finished reading them.

If a child is unable to complete their homework, a note must be written to the class teacher.

If a child is struggling with their homework, we are more than happy to go through the work with them during school time - just provide a note to explain. We ask that every child has their diary signed at the end of each week. Literacy and Maths activities are given out on a Friday and due back the following Wednesday.Any child who does not hand in their homework, for any reason other than absence, will be kept in for 20 minutes of their 60 minute lunchtime. If your child has been absent it is their responsibility to collect missed homework from the teacher.Forests and woodlands are places where there are mostly trees.Year 5 children are also provided with a spelling list every Friday. We encourage children to rehearse these at home during the week, ready for their spelling test on the following Friday.Homework tasks are based on Literacy and Maths objectives that the children will have learnt about during the week.Further homework may sometimes be given relating to a particular topic.Deciduous forests are dotted all over the place, but mostly along the eastern side of North America, central and northern Europe, and northeast Asia. These forests look very pretty in the autumn when all the leaves change from green to red, orange and yellow.
