To support those upper-class and graduate students who will be living off campus, the off-campus housing coordinator has developed a comprehensive program that provides information, resources and education for a successful transition to off-campus living.Your first stop should be to request off-campus housing options.If you have paid your enrollment fee and completed the enrollment application, we can place you in campus housing.

While every effort is made to accommodate all new and returning students who request housing, beginning in Fall 2016, new UT students will receive priority for on-campus residential assignments.

Research in student development and our own experiences indicate that an on-campus residential environment best supports first-year student transition from high school and a family living environment to more independent living and study at a university.

Incoming new students are not required to reside in on-campus residence halls.

However, those who complete their housing application by May 1 will be assigned to on-campus residence halls.

In the past, some first-year students have been required to live at the Barrymore Hotel, which made their transition to campus life more difficult.

Also, we believe second-year students need the stability of campus residential living to support their continued academic and social development.

You are encouraged to plan ahead to find an apartment rental rate to best fit your budget.

Landlords typically require an application fee, first/last month rent and utility deposits.

The Offices of the Dean of Students and Residence Life are committed to assigning student living spaces on the basis of priority for those students who most benefit from the personal, academic and community support of living on campus.

To accomplish this goal, new students with the highest developmental need who deposit and complete their housing application by May 1 will be prioritized to select on-campus housing in UT residence halls.
